FOUNDER AND CEO

Gerard Ferro is a Founder & CEO, Inc 500 Executive, inventor, author, and entrepreneur who is recognized nationally for expertise in health care, healthcare technology and pharmaceutical plan management.

Mr. Ferro was the founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SUNRx, Inc. from 2003 until late 2007. The value proposition for its clients combined with the high level of customer service offered fueled its growth allowing it to be a three time winner on the Inc 500 list including a #5 ranking in the 2006 Inc. 500, a list of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. The Philadelphia Business Journal and the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Rowan University ranked SUNRx as three time winner, including a #1 spot on the South Jersey 25, a list of the fastest-growing companies in Southern New Jersey; SUNRx also had three consecutive top 20 finishes on Entrepreneur PricewaterhouseCoopers Hot 100 including a #3 ranking. SUNRx also secured two top 10 finishes, including a #1 spot on the Philadelphia 100.

Mr. Ferro brings over 28 years of broad-based experience in the health care industry and is now working hard for you. Prior to founding SUNRx, Mr. Ferro served as co-founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of SIMCARE, Inc., (a medical Preferred Provider network and utilization review and management company), and its two subsidiaries: Professional Administrative Services (a Third Party Administrator) and Benefit Specialist, Inc. (a benefits consulting firm). The companies were sold to Blue Cross Blue Shield in 1996. In addition, Mr. Ferro spent 14 years operating a broad spectrum of businesses specializing in benefit consulting, claims management administration technology and managed care network development. He also served from 1993 to 1995 on the GLOBAL EXCESS RE TPA Advisory Board and has served as an expert witness for the FBI, DOL and local authorities on healthcare fraud.

Mr. Ferro's select accomplishments include: introduction of the first TPA to pioneer and develop imaging technology and artificial intelligence in healthcare claims administration in the early 1990s; Architect of a large Managed care system in New Jersey; three time recipient of the Pennsylvania General Agent and Managers Association General Manager of the Year Award; Two time recipient of the Philadelphia Association of Life Underwriters, Norman Rowley Award, and; Recipient of the Re-insurers Most Advanced Technology and TPA of the year awards.

This plan is NOT insurance. This plan does not make payments directly to the providers of medical services. The plan member is obligated to pay for all healthcare services but will receive a discount from those healthcare providers who have contracted with the discount plan organization. This plan provides discounts at certain healthcare providers for medical services. The range of discounts for medical or ancillary services provided under the plan will vary depending on the type of provider and medical or ancillary service received. Pharmacy discounts range from 10% to 85% on most medications. New Benefits will receive and retain a fee from network providers for eligible prescription, hearing, lab, and imaging purchases. The discount medical card program makes available, before purchase and upon request, a list of program providers, including the name, city, state, and specialty of each program provider located in the cardholder's service area.

This discount card program contains a 30 day cancellation period.

FL, LA, MS, ND, OK, RI, SC, SD and TX residents: Member shall receive a full refund of membership fees, excluding registration fee, if membership is cancelled within the first 30 days after the effective date. AR and TN residents: A refund of all fees will be issued if membership is cancelled within the first 30 days. MD Residents: The membership fee and one-time registration fee (minus $5.00) will be refunded if canceled within the first 30 days and upon return of the discount card. MA Residents: The plan is not insurance coverage and does not meet the minimum creditable coverage requirements under M.G.L. c. 111M and 956 CMR 5.00.

Regulated discount benefits are not available in the state of Washington, at this time.

WA residents: If a member cancels his or her membership in the discount plan organization within the first thirty days after the date of receipt of the written documents for the discount plan, the member must receive a reimbursement of all periodic charges upon return of the discount plan card to the discount plan organization.

  1. (A) Cancellation occurs when notice of cancellation is given to the discount plan organization. (B) Notice of cancellation is given when delivered by hand or deposited in a mailbox, properly addressed and postage prepaid to the mailing address of the discount plan organization, or e-mailed to the e-mail address of the discount plan organization.
  2. (A) discount plan organization shall return in full any periodic charge charged or collected after the member has given the discount plan organization notice of cancellation. (B) If the discount plan organization cancels a membership for any reason other than nonpayment of charges by the member, the discount plan organization shall make a pro rata reimbursement of all periodic charges to the member.
